Po wielu tygodniach rozmów, analiz i starań udało się. Zawodnicy startujący w Pomorze Sprint Cup 2022 będą mieli okazję biegać po niezwykłym obiekcie historycznym jakim jest Cytadela Twierdzy Grudziądz.
We have succeded after many weeks of talks, analysis and efforts. The competitors taking part in the Pomeranian Sprint Cup 2022 will have the opportunity to run around an extraordinary historical facility, which is the Citadel of the Grudziądz Fortress.
Twierdza Grudziądz, to zespół XIX-wiecznych fortów otaczających miasto, a my pobiegamy po jej centralnym punkcie – Cytadeli, zwanej niegdyś Twierdzą Courbiere’a. To usytuowany na północnych krańcach Grudziądza XVIII-wieczny kompleks obronny, będący dziś jedną z większych atrakcji historycznych Grudziądza. Twierdza leży jednak na terenie obecnej jednostki wojskowej i dlatego dostęp do niej nie jest najprostszy.
Cały obiekt składa się z części typowo wojskowej oraz części historyczno – turystycznej, udostępnianej na szczególnych zasadach dla zorganizowanych grup turystycznych. Zawody przeprowadzone zostaną właśnie w tej części turystycznej, obejmującej trzypoziomowe mury obronne z wieloma tunelami i przejściami podziemnymi, które stanowią już czwarty poziom terenu. W takiej właśnie atmosferze zawodnicy będą pokonywać ostatni, czwarty etap zawodów. Od razu też zapowiadamy. Tunele mają różną wysokość i szerokość i nie ma możliwości ich pokonania bez latarki. Szkoda tylko, że trudno będzie w czasie rozgrywania zawodów spotkać ich licznych mieszkańców – nietoperze, które na okres letni przenoszą się do okolicznych lasów. My jednak, sprawdzając potencjalne trasy, mieliśmy okazję się z nimi spotkać.
Jedno jest pewne – start w Pomorze Sprint Cup 2022 to jedyna okazja aby Twierdzę Grudziądz zobaczyć od tej strony. Na zachętę tutaj możecie zobaczyć małą galerię zdjęć z naszego rekonesansu.
Przy okazji wielkie słowa podziękowania dla komendantów i żołnierzy Wojskowego Oddziału Gospodarczego w Grudziądzu – gospodarzy terenu. Dzięki ich zaangażowaniu będziemy uczestniczyć w tym niezwykłym wydarzeniu.
The Grudziądz Fortress is a complex of 19th-century forts surrounding the city, and we will run along its central point - the Citadel, formerly known as Courbiere's Fortress. It is an 18th-century defensive complex located on the northern outskirts of Grudziądz, and today it is one of the major historical attractions of Grudziądz.However, the fortress is located on the site of the current military unit and therefore the access to it is not the easiest one.
The entire facility consists of a typical military part and a historical and tourist part, made available on special terms for organized tourist groups. The competition will be held in the tourist part, comprising three-level defensive walls with many tunnels and underground passages, which represent the fourth level of the ground. It is in this ambience that the competitors will be entering the final , fourth stage of the competition. Mind you, the tunnels vary in height and width and it is impossible to cross them without a flashlight. It is a pity indeed that during the competition it will be difficult to come across their numerous inhabitants - bats that move to the nearby woods during the summer.(Though we had the chance to see them while checking the potential routes.)
One thing is certain - the start in Pomerania Sprint Cup 2022 is the only opportunity to see the Grudziądz Fortress from this side.Here, for encouragement, you can see a photo gallery from our exploration.
At this point, we would also like to thank the commanders and soldiers of the Military Economic Department in Grudziądz - the owners of the area. In fact, we will be participating in this extraordinary event only because of their commitment.
